The Pig that built his house of brick lived to fight another day when the wolf tried to huff, puff, and blow his house down. And after a while he turned detective! The first of a delightful series by Bob Burke entwines characters from fables and fairy stories into a narration in film noir style, which is what attracted me to it in the first place, since my fourth book is voiced in the same style.
I found the tale engaging, the crime clever, the solution ingenious but was a little worn out by the continual introduction of yet more characters, some of which seemed to be there for little purpose other than to be clever. But I enjoyed it, and will look out for the next crime in the series.
