Once again I’m taking part in the Book Bloggers’ Hop led by Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we answer a set question and hop round to see what other people have said.  Leave a comment before you blog hop!

This weeks’ question:

Do you have a pet peeve about when someone posts a comment on your blog?

Example: no link back to their blog.

My answer: No.

I suppose I ought to write a little more!

I don’t have any peeves about comments on my blog.  If someone doesn’t include a link back to their blog, well, that’s up to them.  Some of the sign-ins automatically include one’s link to one’s blog, so if you ever wonder why these fields are there to be filled in, that’s why.  Comment, and let people come and see what you write about – it’s being part of the blogging community.

I think when I started out I was terrified of being swamped by spam comments.  WordPress uses Akismet, which gets about 99% of the spam on my sites, and most of the ones it sends me to approve are harmless.  My Blogger blog has some irritating stuff that lets paranoia overtake commonsense when it comes to commenting – I mean Captcha.   Also Blogger lets autobots divert things through your comments, unseen, but just don’t click on the source when you are looking at the innards of your Blogger blog and you’ll be ok.  Blogger also counts all views including from spam and yourself, whereas WordPress only counts real views by people, so that’s why you’ll see most stats on WP blogs are lower than Blogspot ones.  I digress.

So, no I don’t have any peeves about comments on my blog – I’m delighted if you leave them.

My pet peeve about commenting on other people’s blogs is having to jump through hoops to be able to post a comment… sometimes I give up and move on.

I think I’m in agreement with you Jemima, no real peeves.
Wordpress keep the spam down for me and just the odd nonsensical one creeps through but since I get to approve/disapprove it’s OK.

I’m just so happy to get comments, I don’t care what, as long as it’s not spam.

If there’s no link, then I don’t visit them back. Maybe they aren’t blogging. I like to imagine a few people read my blog who aren’t themselves bloggers in search of an audience 😀

My only problem with comments is not getting enough. I’ll get say 10 “Like” (on WordPress) but only one or two comments. I’d love to know what they liked about a post, or that I have readers actually reading it.

If someone has a lnk I visit and comment on their blog and have come across some really nice blogs this way, and meet some really nice people.

As far as captcha goes, I am not annoyed by it any longer. Most used to use words you could not decipher letter from letter. Now that most use numbers, it is easy and not a bother.

I agree Sue – both about the nice people you meet and the captcha numbers. I still find some of the older ones, though – or the blurred photos. Three refreshes and out, as far as I’m concerned 🙂
