Read Tuesday is on Tuesday 9th December 2014

It’s a Black Friday type of sales event, but just for books.

It will be a great opportunity to buy and gift books at amazing sales prices.

It will also be a great marketing opportunity for authors and publishers.

I came across this event a little while ago, and sent some ideas around my friends for consideration.  Then I thought I’d better check it out again, and realise I need to do some work to get a proper marketing plan together for my books.

What’s going to happen is that participating books will be listed on the Read Tuesday website, with links to their product pages at Amazon and Smashwords.  Readers can check out the books featured on the Read Tuesday website leading up to, and including, Read Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

The main point of Read Tuesday is to help promote and improve literacy.

I’ll be putting together some special offers on the Princelings books for inclusion in Read Tuesday, which I’ll post about nearer the time.  Meanwhile I’m working with a bunch of authors to put together a Christmas-themed short story anthology for (upper) middle grade readers, say aged 10+ (still to be finalised). We’ll be pushing that on Read Tuesday too.  If you’re interested in joining us, leave a comment below with some contact details.

Thanks for spreading the word, Jemima! I went and followed the blog so I can keep my eyes open for it. I’ll try to let my writer friends know about your anthology.

The Christmas-themed short stories sounds like a real winner and I’ll be looking for it. I have some littles about that age who would love it!

It would be helpful to set up some guest appearances on other people’s blogs to promote it, Noelle, in case you might be interested in a visit from one or more of the authors. I havent thought this through yet – I’d better get started.
