Yay!  It’s National Indie Booksellers week again in the UK and Ireland, and Indiebound has a huge lot of things on its website to do and read.

I confess I missed this last year, but I’m glad I’m in time again this.

What’s going on?

There are events at Independent Booksellers all week, right through to 25th, which is also the bookshopcrawl challenge!  Last time I got involved I think I managed one bookshop, which is better than none, which was my total last year :O  I really ought to do better, because there are two indiebooksellers in easy reach (Jarrolds and Diss Bookshop) and a couple more not too far away.

Most of the voting for favourite books is done instore using the special voting cards, but if you’re in the UK and Ireland, and near a bookstore, please do drop in, check the list and vote.  There is a picture books short-list, one for kids (most of which I recognise, having been reviewed already by This Kid Reviews Books) and one for adults, which highlighted a couple more for me to put on my over-crowded TBR.

I fear for our local independent now that a small branch of Waterstones has opened near by 🙁

We have lost the bookstore at our university – Barnes and Noble took it over!
