Those of you who signed up to follow the Viridian Series website by newsletter have heard nothing from me for ages, not even about the withdrawal of the Perihelix.

That’s because my newsletter system went wrong and lost all my follower email addresses. It took me a while to address the problem, then a while for it to turn out not to be fixed after all, and then another while to switch over to MailChimp.  I hope it’s working now. If you’d like to sign up again, please pop over to the Viridian System website .

Of course, if I’d done something sensible, like export my list of email addresses to a file to keep in case of problems, I would still have all those followers I could reload with the import facility.  It’s a less technical way of doing a mini-back up.  Now they seem to be held in MailChimp’s database and I can add people manually if there’s a problem.

And that reminds me that I used to do an export file of my posts and comments on a regular basis just in case my website crashed and I lost everything.  You may remember that’s how I moved across to a self-hosted wordpress site.

Hm.  Don’t forget to back-up your website(s).  And your computer(s).

Good advice. And I haven’t backed up either my mailing list or my blog. Thanks for the reminder!

So sorry to hear of your problem! My computer crashed last year, and I recovered everything from my external hard drive. A lesson well learned.
