I have come to the conclusion that I am a complete wannabe at blog visiting, because however much I think I should visit and comment and like posts, I don’t.  I know it’s the key to making more friends and them knowing more about my world, but I’m so busy doing what I do that working down the April AtoZ list is a chore.

I’m slightly better at some of the other regular memes.  I do visit all the FlashBack Friday blogs (one of the shorter lists), and get disappointed when people have dropped out.  I try to visit at least twenty #IWSG blogs, because, well, there are hundreds on it, and I get quite a lot already in my email, so I just aim to do twenty more each month.  I try to visit at least half of the short challenges like Clean Sweep.

So getting to the AtoZ list is hard.  It’s huge, so many people blog about things I don’t connect with, although I do find some gems. Often they are also on one of the others I do.  I add them to my Pinterest board, and try to follow them up on a regular basis, especially during the A to Z.

I think Noelle Granger has a better idea: she lists and thanks all her new followers each month.  I think I should do that, or maybe feature one of the blogs I visit – they may have more followers than me already and not need the mention, but maybe they don’t.  I think that would be more fun than trying to visit everyone on the internet in time.

So, AtoZ Roadtrip, I’m afraid this is where I get off.  It may be a dusty diner on a desert road somewhere between Tucson and St.Louis, but I’ll hitch a lift home, and see you in the spring, when we start with the Theme reveal.  Although sign-up is in January, of course.  Must start working on my posts…

Bye-bye..

Hi Jemima – I’ve always realised getting round all on the A-Z after the actual A2Z in April is ‘almost’ impossible … so haven’t tried … just let the wheel turn and found I wasn’t there. Good luck with all your projects – you are certainly involved … cheers Hilary

There are limited hours in the month Jemima. You can only do what you can manage that still leaves you time for the important thing…..writing. Do what you have to in order to ensure that time doesn’t suffer and you still have chance to sleep. Otherwise you’ll end up like me…….ad no-one wants that.

Well, you certainly use all the hours in the day for productive stuff, David! But no, I like my sleep 🙂

I tried last year, with similar results. It’s not easy!

You said it! I’ve just signed up to something else – but it will directly help my book editing, so I think I just need to consider these challenges more carefully!

Tell me more about this! I need all the help I can get with editing.

I can see your point, Jemima. A-Z is a ton of work. I usually don’t get around to many other blogs while I am doing it! Each year I get excited about doing it, though. This year I thought I’d post on Prague and its environs – or then again, maybe just post some stuff on Prague. The idea of skipping A-Z while I’m trying to write two books is very tempting.

I was going to skip it last year, until I thought about world-building, and in fact I found it very useful, since I learnt a lot more about the subject, and more general writing stuff, too.
This year I have a more geographical plan. I should start working on it one day a week already, though!

Hey, at least you started the road trip. I haven’t even got that far.

I tried the road trip right after AtoZ ended. It’s tough to cover all of them. I like your idea of visiting those who decide to follow you. That’s the least we can do, right? 🙂

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has trouble with this. I do well to visit a half a dozen blogs from the smaller hops I’m with (I do always get back to the ones who visit me). I think I hit 3 or 4 each day during A2Z, and meant to go on doing that, but…yeah. Too much internet, too little time.
