This is my third year doing the Midwinter’s Eve Giveaway Hop; thanks once again to Mary at BookHounds for organising it so well.
This is, of course, my last Giveaway of the year.
It’s also the day for posting my 50 word flash fiction story #Fi50, which is a monthly challenge hosted by the Bookshelf Gargoyle. If you haven’t met him before, he and his friends review numerous books each week, from children’s through YA to crime and mystery and scifi and occasionally non-fiction. There’s also a crafting feature!
This month’s prompt was Recipe for Success, and here is my offering:
My Mother’s Mince Pies
Mix flour, ground almonds, butter, to breadcrumb consistency. Add beaten egg and milk to a stiff dough. Roll and cut into rounds. Place bases in baking cups; add mincemeat with a dash of brandy. Brush tops with milk and stick edges together. Sprinkle with sugar and bake.
Eat with love!
Now for the rafflecopter
There are three prizes this year:
- A paperback copy of one of my books
- A paperback of a BookElves Anthology (either Volume 1 or 2)
- An ebook of the Princelings of the East Box Set (books 1-3)
To take part, just use the rafflecopter. Entries close on 31st December, 11.59 pm New York time. Please remember to check your email address on the 1st or 2nd January in case you’ve won as you’ll only have 48 hours to claim your prize if you have.
Now go hopping!
Terence didn’t see a notice ‘May Contain Nuts’ before he ate the mince pie. He’s now twice the size he was and fighting for his life in casualty. Jemima smiled as she considered her revenge after being plagiarised.
Happy Christmas Jemima

Sorry, Terence! Huge Happy Christmas cuddles, David <3

Thank you, Mary – what would we do without you? Happy New Year too.
I’ve just come up with my Fi50…but it’s too hot down here to bother with word limits, so it could be an epic.
I await your epic with interest!

Eat too much, talk too much with kin, and wait for the sun to return. That’s my winter solstice traditions.
Sound good to me 🙂 We have had a lovely sunny day for Solstice and the day after, at any rate. That’s sun with frost – the best type 😉
Happy Holidays wherever you are.
And to you too, Tanja

Wouldn’t Peace on Earth be nice this year!
Yes, indeed. A prospect that seems increasingly unlikely. I hope it is peaceful for you, at any rate, Penny 🙂

Happy holidays to you as well, Karin 🙂
May this season of celebration see you happy, healthy and enjoying good food, good drinks and good company. May the New Year fulfill all your wishes and dreams.
That’s very kind, MM – especially when I’m writing the morning after my Christmas party! Now for the cleaning up – thank goodness for dishwashers 🙂
Happy New Year!!!
Peace and Goodwill toward Men
As I get older that means much more to me. Peace within my immediate family, peace within extended family, peace with friends and acquaintances, peace with strangers and they with all those around them.
