fi50Blessing in Disguise is the prompt for #Fi50, Fiction in fifty words, this month. Once I got the idea of a missed bus, the rest of it wrote itself. I’m back to doing my story the week before Bruce sends the meme live on the Bookshelf Gargoyle, just so I can link it in straight away.  Join in any time of year – get the list of prompts from this page.

Blessing in Disguise

The bus disappeared as she exited her road. Two hours till the next. She slumped against the wall, thumbing her phone.  “Betty, can you give me a lift into town. I’ve an eye appointment. Betty? Betty?”

The strange gargle lent wings to her feet.

The ambulance reached Betty in time.

Flashback Friday

flashback logoThis may be an appropriate place to ask if you are interested in helping to raise #Flashback Friday into people’s consciousness.  I had an email from MaryLou asking if I knew anything more about it, since the originator of the meme was no longer blogging.  I’d be willing to take on the role of host if other people will publicise it to their blogging pals.  I know from my previous efforts that I can’t do this alone!

All Flashback Friday entails is reposting one of your own posts that you feel deserves a little more exposure.  Since it takes place on a Friday, the last Friday of the month, it’s a great way of easing my writing brain through a month if I’m doing major work on a book.  Your post doesn’t have to be fiction though.  Recipes would be great! Any type of post you want to repeat, every last Friday of the month.

What do you think?  Should I set up a link-up system?

    Nice story.

I will certainly back you if you want to take over Flashback Friday. From the looks of things over at Bruce’s blog, maybe I need to offer to take over hosting Fiction in 50–he is taking a break, and I don’t think will be doing it.

I’ve seen Bruce’s message to you – so it looks like we have a meme each 🙂 Is meme the right word?

I think we each have a party to manage 🙂
