Years events is a term I cobbled together for my penultimate post in this year’s A to Z Challenge. I don’t often do the Road Trip, but since I’ve spent so much of this month just writing, and only commenting on people who visited (here or my guest post on the A to Z website), I think I should get out there and meet some of the other participants.

Years events to consider

June sees the UK Wildlife Trusts’ event #30DaysWild. I’ve been doing that for several years now. It’s too much to do daily posts, especially if I’m carrying out surveys or wildlife activities as well. I read a book called Finding Sustainability (reviewing in late May) and I decided to look at my plastic waste, where it’s coming from and what alternatives I can use to reduce it. That’ll be a theme through June.

30 Days Wild

July sees the fourth of my flash fiction collections published. That’s Weird and Weirder, which you read about on Tuesday. I’ll finish that project off with a decision on a paperback version–which may be all four books in one volume. And then I need to work on some more stories for the fifth book in the series–the Christmas or winter collection.

Publication of Zanzibar’s Rings. My work in progress this month will need editing, beta reading and generally improving. I suspect a date early in the new year will be best for publication, so the build up for that will start. Marketing plans, possible book tour, promotions, and so on.

In between all that I have an audiobook that needs some help. That goes straight onto the ‘urgent’ list when I finish the draft of Zanzibar’s Rings, and the ebook files for Weird and Weirder. I should have done it months ago.

So, the April A to Z Challenge nears its end, but I have plenty more to keep me busy.

I also need to get back to writing Flash Fiction every week, or I won’t be able to set up some Collections for future years!

#amwriting

So how close am I to finishing Zanzibar’s Rings? Close enough to write tomorrow’s post, at any rate. See the progress bar below to see whether I’m likely to hit my target for the end of the month. Although I did cut myself some slack and make the NaNoWriMo target 5,000 words lower!

I think you yourself had an eventful year, what with the move and settling in and getting two guinea pigs. We have three road trips scheduled now!

Looks ambitious :). I’m not going back to weekly flash fiction, but would like to do one a month, anyway. It’s good writing practice and, as noted, fodder for later collections!

Yes, one a month would be fine. Maybe shorter ones if I’m doing once a week, like #writephoto, but not always wimping out to a haiku. 🙂

Am planning to extend the theme of my AtoZChallenge topic (Novel Research – novel meaning interesting, different, unusual) with Wednesday interviews of authors talking about novel topics they’ve researched for various reasons.
Not sure what “Road Trip” is about but will try to check it out.

Came to visit you today, but had trouble leaving a comment. I’ll come back another time 😉
