My choice of this week’s Crimson’s Creative Challenge takes me back to the first time I visited the Broads as a teenager. I loved seeing the yachts sailing by me, through the marshes and the farmland! I picked the second image this week.
It’s 146 words 😀

CCC048 Sailing By
They arrived late at the cottage. She only saw the wide, wide sky, filled with millions of stars. A quick cocoa and it was off to bed.
Her tiny room held a bed, and a chair. A weird window started at the floor and went up into a peak. She bent down to look out, but all she saw was darkness. After climbing into bed, she snuggled down with her hot water bottle.
She woke early, to a strange noise. A creak, a flapping, a ‘thonk’ of something wooden, rattling ropes, silence for a while, then it all happened again. She leaned out of bed. A sail was drifting past her window. Then she fell out, and saw it wasn’t sailing in the marsh. The river was only a few yards away. The noises came again as it tacked once more to carry on sailing by.

Lovely. I’ve only read of the area, of course—but mostly in old kids’ books, which makes it magic 🙂
The evocative sounds. They stay with us forever!
Magical ❤️
Interesting short. I enjoyed the imagery painted here.

I have a novella coming out on the ninth. And a post about condiments planned on the A to Z site. Hope you’re well!
