A tapestry of colours in this week’s Crimson’s Creative Challenge. Although…it’s not one of the Challenge photos, it’s one from the Sunday post that inspired me more. It’s what happens when you decide you need more coloured pencils to do justice to your autumn art efforts. And there’s very little fiction in this story.
It’s 150 words.(gold star)

CCC059 – Tapestry
A woodland walk, an inspiration. She snapped some photos, hoping she’d still be inspired when she got home. The drawing of the village church needed work, although she was frustrated by the lack of umber and vermilion shades in her pencil set. The blue of the lagoon she’d visited another day was okay, but the sky needed more work.
This wood, though. So much colour, the trees and brackens changing as expected, but the unexpected vibrancy of the light on a tree painting it bright blue, and the shade on darker paths a rich purple. A tapestry of colours.
She looked at her pencil set in disgust. Nothing in it would capture the scene. In desperation she searched the manufacturer’s site. So much choice! She settled on the ‘Kandinsky’ set (although ‘Cezanne’ or ‘Chagalle’ would have done well). It arrived the next day.
Now she could start on her tapestry.

Hi,
She ? Her tapestry ? Not in our house. Somebody else does it so much better.
Mary Everest Boole used to teach maths through embroidery…
I like your treatment of this. It reminded me of the set of Lakeland’s coloured pencils when I was an art student. Yep, the full range. Knee-weakening!
Getting the colors right is one of my biggest challenges when I paint or draw. Well, that and the fact that I can’t really draw, and haven’t enough patience to work on it. Glad you got more colours—even for a flop like me, new art supplies are so exciting!
