How to decide what my best short story (flash fiction) of the year might be? I decided to filter first by the number of likes or comments (not including mine) and second by personal preference. Although I published some short stories for the first time here this year, I have restricted the list to those written this year to make it slightly easier for myself. Then I realised that there was a direct relationship between comments and views. Some of those I liked best hadn’t got many views. I put a couple in and that got me to twelve.
- Last Tangent in Paris
- The Indescribable Ugliness of Pants
- The Orichalcum Library
- Girl on a Ledge
- The Next Generation
- The Last Ice-cream
- The Legend of the Scarecrow Epidemic
- The Empress and the Peanut
- Zephyrs and other Winds
- Rajah of Nilgiri
Then I had to get that down to a reasonable number for you to vote on. Reviewing your own work isn’t easy, and I hope you agree with these choices. Feel free to add your favourite!
