Have you noticed it’s the end of September already?

In theory, I should now be sitting with a completed and published book of my dad’s memoirs and have set up the new paperbacks for the Princelings series.  Those were the tasks for August and September.

After finishing the Perihelix first draft in July, I was either tired or still thinking of those characters and what they were doing.  So I decided to postpone the August plans to September, with the consequent knock-on effect.

Then I decided to do the Readathon, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but still felt like a holiday, since I did most of my reading in the garden on my new Kindle Paperwhite, which has almost immediately become my preference for reading of all kinds.

In the middle of September I had what can only be described as Technology Week.  Since my printer had gone wrong terminally in August, and I had an urgent need to print some tickets out, ‘printer’ went to number 1 in the priority list.  The same evening I discovered our broadband internet was to be upgraded and I acted fast to get it as soon as possible.  That arrived the following week…. people who left it a few days have to wait till mid-October!  And finally that week, the powers-that-be decided to change my internet provider’s email system (a switch which has been ongoing for eighteen months) and it was finally my turn to switch over.  If I tell you I was on the phone to their helpline for a whole morning (their cost) trying to get switched over successfully, and I have just spent 20 minutes without managing to send or read more than two emails, you will understand that I am feeling miffed with it.  Of course, it could be the broadband not working as fast as hoped…. but since everything else is (at least) reasonable, I can reveal that it is the dreaded ‘unresponsive scripts’ problem – every time I click anything email-related!

Rant over.  Today is the start of a new week.  Maybe I will start working on editing my dad’s memoirs again today.  After all, I have nothing better to do, have I?

Also on my to do list:

  • 6 reviews of books I read in the Readathon
  • read and review 2 other books for blog tour posts
  • read my bookclub book by 6th Oct
  • do tomorrow’s haiku
  • do Friday’s flash fiction
  • make a marketing plan for the Book Elves Anthology
  • catch up on other blogs 🙂

I’m sure I was never this busy when I commuted to a paid job!

This is such a quintessentially writer’s post! My Mom used to say, “The faster I go, the behinder I get.” And I’m with you, with the added adventure of a wedding in two weeks.
You can rant anytime, Jemima, because you already do more in a month than most writers I know.

Had to laugh! There’s been a lot of that kind of delay around here, though not, thank goodness, trouble with email or internet (but we changed our phone system and went two days without a phone. It took that long for me to notice).

I wrote a third part to half a clue and set up the blog post before I knew that someone had finished it. (Link on first part post). Maybe I’ll leave it up. I could send it to you so you could do a fourth part and post mine and yours on your blog? it looks like it could go on for sometime if we interview all the suspects 🙂

If I post mine in local time, we can both post on Friday and still have yours come first!
