Here’s an idea. I post a quote for you, probably from one of my books, and then give you a question related to it.
Lame? Well, let’s try it for a couple of months and see what happens.
The quote:
Something large, black and pointed protruded into the tunnel from the place where the light had been. It was attached to a face with black beady eyes that followed the nose out then looked each way up and down the tunnel. On its second look in Fred’s direction, it stopped and fixed its gaze on him.
“Urr, well, hi,” it said.
Fred was somewhat relieved that it spoke, which was a good sign, but somewhat bemused by the strange way in which it spoke. He decided that it was a greeting of sorts and so should be responded to.
“Greetings and good health to you and your family.” he replied formally.
“Mighty kind of you I’m sure.” The owner of the beady eyes stepped out into the tunnel, dressed in a very snazzy black and white suit, with a crest just like Fred’s, but white. Fred had never seen such an outlandish get-up but decided he was travelling, and maybe there were lots of outlandish things in the outlands. He turned to make a comment to George and was stunned to find George wasn’t there. Oops, no back-up, just when you really need it, he thought.

The question:
Who is the owner of the beady eyes?
Okay, Jemima, I’m thinking a gorgeous skunk! We had a mama skunk who lived under the ramp up into our barn when I was a girl – she used to bring her babies out for us to see every spring. Very friendly. My mother left her food scraps all the time.
Not a bad guess. But no cigar. You can get a clue on the home page of the princelings website 🙂
Of course, a dashing black and white guinea pig!
Of course! A very dashing black and white guinea pig – called Hugo 😀
By the way, if it were in my books, you’d probably be right 😉
I know! I know! (Waves hand excitedly in the air).
But I won’t tell, so others can guess.
That’s very generous of you 😀 I’ve told Noelle his name, though!
Can you please post excerpts from you books, like chapters or something like that?
Do you review books? I have a short modern fairy tale and I think you will like the story.
You’ll find much more from the Princelings series on the books’ website http://princelings.co.uk
I do review books, but only ones I choose to read for myself. Sorry! Have a look at my Review Policy under “Policies” in the menu.
