I’m posting early because of the UK’s National Poetry day tomorrow.
This hop features books that have been made into movies or TV shows. It’s sometimes hard to tell which way round the book/movie movie/book transformation has occurred, because usually the book is reissued with a cover that ties in with the film. Water for Elephants was one of these. I enjoyed the book (a bookclub read) but didnt want to see the film, based on the cover. The earlier covers were much more related to the book, so it really put me off the film!
An example where the tie-in is uncertain is the book of Gravity, which I’ve only seen as a film, until my village’s bookclub read the book (by Tess Gerritson) and raved about it. Like a Goodreads reviewer, they said ‘it’s not scifi, it’s a serious thriller’ or words to that effect – a thriller where the background just happens to be in space. But the covers on display at present do not indicate it is the same story as the film. Maybe it isn’t close enough – like most of the James Bond films only bear the name of the book and a few characters in common. Ok, maybe most of the Sean Connery ones were closer to the original book.
I did a post comparing the Book and Movie of the Hobbit earlier this year, and said I do some more. So I’m going to try to fit in a few more this week, during this hop. Check the sidebar of Latest posts if you’re here after 8th October, to see whether I’ve got some more thoughts on the theme!
Yes, it’s a giveaway hop… so I’m giving away prizes.
Note that my DVD prizes are PAL format – for UK and Europe. I know that is NOT the standard for US, so if you win, do not choose a DVD prize unless you know you can play PAL format.
Book prizes are from my bookshelf or from Book Depository.
