It’s that time again, when I locate the Bookshelf Gargoyle’s prompt for the Fiction in 50 Challenge and set to work on the somewhat difficult task of a good (and complete) story in fifty words.  You can join in any time – just go to Bruce’s sign up and prompt page here.

This month’s prompt is Mixed Messages.  Rather appropriate, really, since I’ve been getting mixed messages about the Perihelix and have now withdrawn it pending a complete revision.  In the meantime, back to a fifty word story – which I found very difficult to get to fit and still keep a beginning, middle and end.  But I tried!

The Trouble with Text

He’d rushed out, shirt undone, leapt into the car and spat gravel. At 5 pm a text arrived: Forget tonite no swimming costume marty meet pub 6.

What?

Enraged, he entered the bar. Two sluttish, bewigged blondes and cowboy-dressed Mike stared back.

“I said he’d forget the costume party.”

Sounds like one of my texts. I can never get my claws on those tiny buttons!

Mine are very creative, too. I’m surprised my friends understand me!

I remember calling a boyfriend before I was married and had to leave a message with his roommate. I never heard back so I called him again, and he said,” Oh, THAT’S what the note was about!” Message: someone called about
    no well.

LOL! I’ve sent some REALLY interesting messages when autocorrect takes over while I’m not wearing glasses (and so can’t see what’s written).

Yeah – needing to find my glasses as well as my phone for text messages is a real challenge!
