Mashed Potatoes are the best! I know that isn’t a meal but our meals don’t usually differ that much.

Oh, boy, my favorite holiday meal! Well, Xmas dinner, with all the family, whatever we end up eating. One of my husband’s brothers and his wife are fantastic cooks, and they have done some amazing dishes, from roast lamb to beef somethingorother to the traditional turkey (never tried goose, which would be even more traditional). Then there’re the pies…

My family does a fancy Christmas Eve dinner where we have a tablecloth and everything, and the main course is the most delicious salmon over angel hair pasta with some sort of sauce that’s like the nectar of the gods. A few years ago my dad briefly suggested that we might try something different … that didn’t last long 😛

We usually get invited out to the inlaws as their days are numbered for this sort of thing (my FIL has dementia and they’re just waiting for a placement as this stage) so my MIL loves to go all out, its turkey, homemade stuffing, her homemade salad dressing for me for the salad (Everyone else just used the bottled stuff..ick lol) , homemade treats like peanut brittle or nanaimo bars, butter tarts, confetti marshmallow things. Garlice mashed potatoes (Which are actually whipped with her blender, same way I do them lol) and homemade from scratch gravy (Which I always fail at, either too liquidy or thick like cement lol)
some sort of veggie, although I tend to skip that and just eat the good stuff (unless it would be broccoli, OR brussel sprouts cus I’d be all over that like a pig in mud)
