fi50No More Hearts and Flowers was a prompt I came up with for Fi50 (actually I submitted it for the February WEP but 28 days won)!  In the post-Valentines days of February, I hope you don’t identify too much with this one…

No More Hearts and Flowers

He lounged on the sofa, tv silently squawking.  On the table the casseroled beef bourguignon turned to congealing mess, accompanied by wilting salad. Occasionally he reread the text, slurping the wine.

Fetching a third bottle, the meat knife caught his eye. So sharp, so solid.

He frowned, considering his options.

I seem to have a penchant for Fi50s involving knives at present.  I wonder what subliminal stuff is going on?

About Fi50

This is a meme started some time ago by someone else, only to fall by the wayside.  Rebecca Douglass and I have been pushing it ever since.  Why don’t you join in?

All you have to do is a piece of fiction in fifty words, no more, once a month.  We usually share them in the last week of the month (I’m a bit late, but then February’s a bit short).  Check out Rebecca’s Fi50 page for the prompts for the year.  You can sign up there soon, or here now.

Just link your blog here.  Don’t link your blog post, as this is a master list for us to visit each month. Put your blog home page or blog listing page, wherever your new posts appear as a list.

Fiction in fifty words, no more, once a month. Sounds so easy - why not join in? This month: No More Hearts and Flowers... Click To Tweet

I just realized I hadn’t read this one! And you’ve got some great extras here—things I should learn how to do, like that tweet business :). Sigh. Past time to change my blog platform.

I don’t know how long that ‘Click to Tweet’ option has been around, but I saw it on someone’s blog then I started to see it on lots of others once I’d downloaded it. If you (or anyone) is searching plugins, it’s the ‘Better Click to Tweet’ that seems to be most popular, and works a treat 🙂
