First lines rewritten according to the current guidelines for social contact. It’s a thing found on Lithub, well, I found the link someone else posted on Facebook, and who knows where that came from.
That’s how our modern world works, isn’t it? We may be isolated from our friends, neighbours and family, hoping to stem the tide and reduce our risk of Coronavirus, but our online social network is as supportive as ever.
So, despite having moved house some 200 miles only a few days ago, my social circle is much the same. This shows what a boring person I am!

There are new rules we have to follow, of course, to minimise our risk of spreading the virus. I love how people are drawing out the humour even in this serious situation. When I read these wonderfully funny examples of reimagined first lines on Lithub, they inspired me to try my book openers.
