This year’s Giftmas 2020 Blog tour is hosted by Rhonda Parrish. Each year Rhonda aims to raise money for the Edmonton Alberta Food Bank at this time, and although she considered skipping it for 2020, she realised it was probably more important than ever. The theme this year is Connections, and although my official stop is today, I have another bite of the cherry tomorrow!

What your Giftmas 2020 money does

Our goal this year is $1000. Because of the food bank’s connections and bulk buying power they can turn $1 into 3 meals. That means if we reach our goal we’ll have given them the ability to provide 3,000 meals to hungry people this winter.
  • All donations go through Canada Helps which means they don’t need to pass through my hands before getting to where they can do the most good.
  • Donations are in Canadian dollars so American, UK and European donors can get more bang for their buck.
  • Donations are tax deductible (where eligible)
  • $1 = 3 meals

You can see what Rhonda is doing on her blog, including a giveaway (but not a rafflecopter).

I’m also doing a giveaway.  Every person commenting (excluding my own) on this post, will go into a draw for an ebook, BUT I’ll also donate £1 for every comment to my local Food Bank (in goods).  I’ll put a cap on that of £50, since sometimes these Giftmas things go viral!

And to entertain you on the way down to the comment area, there’s a quiz (which for non-London people, you might want to look at a larger map of the tube system in Central London).

And if you come back tomorrow, there’s a short story with a sub-theme of connections, too!

Here’s who else is participating:

London Tube Connections Quiz

tube connections

This is just for fun, but I’ll put the answers in the comments here on Friday.

  1. Nearest stop to Buckingham Palace, three lines connect here: sounds like a place for novice drivers
  2. Two lines connect at a place well-known for film premieres
  3. Five lines connect at a Gerry Rafferty song with a famous saxophone solo
  4. Three lines connect at the entrance to a Hugh Grant/Julie Roberts film
  5. Two lines connect at a film address starring Anne Bancroft & Anthony Hopkins
  6. Six lines connect at a complicated intersection joining the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street and the memorial for the Great Fire of London (1666)[including the DLR line]

Comments welcome!

You can put your answers in the comments, but any comment will be welcome – like whether you have a favourite charity or whether you are donating to a foodbank (including Rhonda’s choice the Edmonton Food Bank).

I shall be going to bed with Baker Street as an earworm now! I give to very local charities at Christmas, ones that get maybe toys and food to Glasgow children, or provide shelter for those who have nowhere else to go, rather than the bigger, global ones I subscribe to for the rest of the year.

I know what you mean about the ear worm! One of my all-time favourites, though. I agree on the local charities, hence my comment fundraiser, well more like a sponsorship for me to support my local food bank with something extra. Thanks for pushing up the tally!

Great idea. It’s way past my bedtime now but I’ll have a go at the quiz tomorrow 🙂 I’ll need to study the map, though, not being a Londoner.
