Weird and Weirder is the fourth of my Flash Fiction Collections. I’ve been publishing them more or less monthly: the next is out May 6th, then Time and Tinplate on June 10th, and this one on July 8th, giving you folks celebrating some sort of Independence a few days to recover!

Weird and Weirder: The Horse-drawn Lighthouse and Other Unexpected Tales

Smugglers moving a whole lighthouse? People turning into animals? Scarecrows attacking a village? These and other strange and atmospheric flash fiction stories will get you thinking and wondering. What on earth will happen next?

weird and weirder

I confess I haven’t yet put this one together. I’m busy writing the book for the AtoZChallenge Z post!

But I do know what stories are available to go in it: the Horse-Drawn Lighthouse, obviously is one. I wrote that one January from a Chuck Wendig ‘roll a title from two lists’ prompt. It’s one of my favourites, and I hope others enjoy it as much.

Two sets of recurring characters might turn up in this: the ones I call the Boxcar Mysteries, where there’s something weird in a train boxcar that turns anyone who stays the night into something unnatural. Then there’s the Erebor sequence, which stems from a prompt involving several characters generated by a D&D website.

I have a penchant for stories that go a little weird, so there are a lot to choose from–the other books in the collection have around 30,000 words or 22-25 stories . I may reserve some of the better ones for a future collection. Hmm, maybe if I want to do more Erebor or Boxcar I should hold those back?

Pre-order details

If you’re up for a pre-order, you can do so already for iTunes, Kobo or Nook, and I think the Kindle one is up too.

Or get the previous ones: Critters & Crises, Greed & Retribution; Time and Tinplate. I think there’ll be a Christmas one, probably in September or thereabouts!

I’m still working on Zanzibar’s Rings. It looks like I’ll have to burn some midnight oil to hit my target by Friday night… see the progress bar below.

Congrats on your new flash fiction release. And I hope you don’t have to stay up too late to meet your writing goals.

Thanks, Stephanie. I will get around to visiting next week, I think. Bit of pressure for this week to get my wip finished 🙂

I think they’re my favourites. But then I think that every time I put a book out 🙂
