A Cover Reveal is a funny thing. I’m not sure whether it really does help marketing your new book, but I do it anyway. It’s all supposed to build hype leading up to the book launch. Well, I’ve chosen to do it on IWSG day, unashamedly to get maximum exposure!

Insecure Writers Support Group badge

This is my Insecure Writers Support Group post, in which we share our successes and failures as writers, our insecurities, in fact. Anyone can join in, just sign up at the IWSG Sign-up page, write a blog post on the first Wednesday of the month, and go back to that sign up page to link with everyone else–or a goodly sample. Our host is Alex J Cavanaugh, and his co-hosts for the month are:

Kim Elliott, Melissa Maygrove, Chemist Ken, Lee Lowery, and Nancy Gideon!

And now – the cover reveal for Zanzibar’s Rings (Viridian System #3)!

A galactic crisis: the entire comms system destroyed. How will spaceships in flight get home? Dolores is stuck in warp with a very dangerous passenger, Pete gets his shuttle home on manual. How come anything in close contact with orichalcum fixes itself? Just flying through Zanzibar’s Rings solves the problem, as the Federation’s Fighters find, as they invade the Viridian System’s settled planets. This is the final book in the Viridian System series.

Publication date: February 22nd 2022, ebook and paperback

Pre-order from most of these places now!

Amazon ~~~ Apple iTunes ~~~ B&N (Nook) ~~~ Kobo ~~~ Scribd ~~~ Smashwords

Check out the other books in the series: The Perihelix, and Curved Space to Corsair.

Question of the Month

In your writing, what stresses you the most? What delights you?

Stresses me most: marketing. I suspect 95% of the IWSG members who have published will mention it. My second worst stress factor is finding typos or worse, homonyms or omitted words, years after publication :O

What delights me? Oh, so many things! My characters doing something wonderful. Some strand of throwaway plot that comes back to be the solution to a particularly tricky issue years later. Finishing the book. Finishing the paperback. People buying it. People saying nice things about it…. And… coming up with new ideas!

Over to you!

Oh! Jemima I love the cover and the plot is very interesting. …
Excuse me pointing this out but is this sentence correct .. ‘How come anything in close contact with orichalcum fixes itself? ‘
Good luck with the launch. Would you like a Guest interview here on my blog as part of a book promotion?πŸ’œ

I’d love to do a guest post for you. Would you like it as part of the blog tour I’ll be doing with Pump Up Your Book, or do it separately?
Um, re the sentence… what is it about it you don’t like? The idiomatic approach?

I sorry about the sentence it didn’t make sense to me but I have read it again and now it makes perfect sense. I am happy to do the guest spot either with pUmp Up Your Book or separately or both which ever you like. We can do an interview or whatever form you’d like . I can send some questions when I know what dates your looking at πŸ’œ

I’ve got that as ‘But why does anything in close contact with pure orichalcum fix itself?’ in some other versions. I’ll switch them all to that πŸ™‚

Hi Jemima – all the best as you move towards publication date next year. I too would find marketing difficult. Take care and all the best – Hilary

Love your cover. I think it was a great choice to do your cover reveal on IWSG day. And the thought of marketing really stresses me out. If you want me to shout out about your book in Follower News when it releases, email me.

That bit about finding typos years later. You bet that would stress me out too. Love the cover. Great day to reveal the same. Best wishes!

You can imagine what I was like, when I realise that the first line of the first chapter of Princelings book 3 was missing a word. Like Had. It must have been in the public domain for five years by then πŸ™‚

    Congratulations – it’s a great cover!
Not sure why marketing doesn’t stress me. Maybe it’s because I keep expectations low.

Some people are just better at it naturally. πŸ™‚ I probably don’t do it as well as I should because I don’t put enough time and effort into it.
Glad you like the cover πŸ™‚

A lot of people have said marketing is their #1 stressor. It’s such an unknown! Even when I work hard at it, I can’t tell if it succeeded. Sigh. Best of luck with your new book, Jemima!

It is, isn’t it? I’m on final edit now, and so far I’ve changed two words and caught one reference to something deleted.

Love the cover. Marketing is the worst! I don’t even count it as part of writing. LOL

Interesting that I did, unlike most. Maybe it’s just where I am with this book, though.

I love cover art, so I always enjoy cover reveals. I am with you, though, on wondering how effective it is as hype building. For me, it doesn’t create much of a wave, but maybe for authors with bigger audiences it does. Either way, great cover.

Errors? Moi? Yeah, I represent that! Also, I’ve had a ‘character’ that was in the early part of a book for ‘color’ and realized they actually had a part to play much later in the book. I love when that happens. It’s almost like I planned a full circle kind of thing. (At least my mind did.)

Oh yes, I love those times. They’re so satisfying! It’s when you dropped something in book 1, developed it a little on book 6, and it becomes the answer to their problems in book 10 that the X files music starts!

You know, I hadn’t even thought about the marketing part. Probably because my first book hasn’t come out yet, so I haven’t experienced the true meaning of being a writer.

    BTW, your cover is great!

I didn’t know you were coming out with something new! That’s great. And I think it sounds fascinating. You’re right to tell about the book if you want readers, so I’m glad you have. Huge congratulations.

    Great cover.
Yeah, finding typos you know you fixed, ugh! I had that happen because of a mislabeled file (the old doc got mistaken for the corrected copy).
Hope you had a good IWSG day!
I’m enjoying #WRiTECLUB2021 over at DL Hammons blog. The entries are fun to read and vote on with feedback.
Plus, I’m currently reading Patricia Lynne’s Being Human. (The IWSG Goodread’s book club choice for December.)
And I’m scheduling debut author interviews at Operation Awesome.
I hope you have some fun plans for the rest of 2021. πŸŽ„πŸŽ†β›ΈπŸ₯βœ‰πŸ₯‚β›„ May your days ahead be merry and filled with positive experiences.

Just slightly busy, then J! I did WriteClub one year. Disappointed that I hated the eventual winners, and nobody else seemed to like most of my picks πŸ™‚ So maybe not for me…
