I’ve got so many goodies for you in December, I’m getting really excited about Christmas for once!
From December 1st to 23rd we are having a humungous Giveaway and blog tour. The 12 Authors of Christmas have clubbed together to bring you 30 prizes of ebooks, and they are featuring interviews and reviews throughout the period of the giveaway. I’ll be leading off on December 1st and you can watch out for the other MGBookElves (as we’re styling ourselves on Twitter) who are using this badge! I will also be hosting a three way character interview: Fred and George have invited Stanley and Katrina (Perpetual Papers of a Pack of Pets) and Max (The Shadows from the Past series) round for a fireside chat. Near the end of the Giveaway period I’ll interview Paul R Hewlett, author of Lionel’s Adventure series.
Most Mondays there will be a list of some kind, featuring my best or favourite somethings of the year. I’m starting with time travel books, but there will be a chance for you to vote on my flash fiction stories and also my review of my books reviewed this year. And yes, I will have finished my Goodreads Reading Challenge, since I’m five books ahead already and haven’t read all the books I want to feature in December yet.
December’s book reviews will of course have a seasonal flavour. I’m featuring The Snow Goose on Nov 30th, Lionel’s Christmas Adventure on the 7th, Flea’s Second Christmas on the 14th ( I read his first adventure last year), and Hercule Poirot’s Christmas on the 21st, unless I decide to do A Christmas Carol and then include a massive three-detective review on the 28th as my book club read is an Inspector Lynley mystery and I have an Inspector Montalbano to finish that I got for Christmas last year!
I’m not doing a Princelings serial on this blog as there will be some seasonal flash fiction on Fridays as usual. However, over on the Princelings website I have a brand new adventure, featuring Princeling (now King) Fred, with major help from George, of course, as well as Kira, Lupin, Baden, Victor, Willoughby and some of the pirates from the second and fifth books! That starts on Monday 2nd, has ten episodes, and is unimaginatively titled Fred’s Yuletide Escape.
Also on the website from 6th to 13th I’ll be giving away copies of the short story Dylan’s Yuletide Journey, which was on the website last Christmas, and has been developed into a short chapter ebook available free on Smashwords. That is part of the Kid Lit Giveaway Hop Holiday Extravaganza, with prizes of the Princelings Trilogy, other ebooks and signed prints of the chapter illustrations. You can still sign up for that at Mother Daughter Book Reviews till the end of November, and of course you can hop around entering as many Giveaways as you like!
Back here: early in the month I’m featuring new books by Sally Harris and Suzanne de Montigny as part of their blog tours so watch out for those and do support their books. If Sally’s new book, Ruby Marvellous, is half as good as Diary of a Penguin-Napper, it really will be ruby marvellous!
There’ll be haikus, too, but I don’t anticipate posting anything between 28th Dec and 2nd January. I will be attempting to transfer this blog onto a new platform, as I mentioned last week. If you find jemimapett.com doesnt get you anywhere or gets a file-not-found type of message, try jemimapett.wordpress.com and there’ll probably be a message explaining what’s gone wrong!
