You remember I used to join in the Book Blogger Hop occasionally? This is a question I wanted to address at the end of March, but something else came up that HAD to be blogged about, so I postponed it to a rainy day, so to speak.
The question is:
Do you read more on a rainy day or on a gorgeous day so you can be outside?
For me, I discover I read more outside, but specifically when I am sitting next to the guinea pigs in their runs out on the grass. Two things have affected this:
- my eyesight is not as good as it was and I hate reading anything but my kindle in artificial light
- I can read my kindle indoors or out
This particularly affects my bookclub reads, since they come as paperbacks and sometimes the print is small or a fashionable grey, and it’s simply too hard to persevere with them. I know I could get another reading light – but I could also see about getting them on my kindle from the library.
I do enjoy my reading in the garden. I like to have a bit of shade, which is sometimes difficult, and I meant to rework the sitting place to the other corner of the garden over the winter to make it more shady, but never got around to it. I do a bit of gardening when the boys are out mowing the lawn for me, but I rarely do more than half an hour at a time, and then I can settle down with a book for an hour or two and just relax. Bliss! And then I take the boys indoors back to their cages, and get back to work on the books or blogging. It’s a hard life 😉
What about you?
Indoors on gloomy or rainy days. When the sun shines, I want to go hike or ride my bike. Outside is usually not a very good place to read here, as it is too often foggy and chill, or if the sun is actually out (and the wind calm) it is too bright. Or maybe that is just me, too used to the fog?
My longest read-a-thons have been in a tent on a rainy afternoon 🙂
That made me laugh, thanks!
The weather doesn’t affect my reading habits. Sun or rain, if I feel like reading, that’s what I’ll do. Now, I can’t read in the dark because that hurts my eyes.
That used to be me, till I started blogging!
For me it’s not about the weather or the location. I read whenever I a moment of peace, when there’s nothing else I need to do for the next few minutes.
