Deeper and deeper into the mire of work backlog… it’s WEP week, so I wasn’t ready to do a second flash fiction in response to Sue Vincent’s #writephoto prompt.
Apart from the WEP flash fiction for Wednesday, which I’ve been mentally working on for weeks, but only starting writing on Friday, I’m behind with my reading, and I’m still editing several short story collections — more about them on Wednesday (or if you can’t wait, follow the princelings website or my publisher website!) I blame my optician for taking away the glasses I’ve been managing with and fitting lenses that will actually work for my new eyes… in a couple of weeks!
And then I thought — I used to love doing haikus. I hope you don’t mind them either.
Here’s the picture prompt:
And here’s the haiku!

I stand on the edge: Shall I jump or back away? Deep water beckons...
Lovely haiku.
Wonderful. I’d jump for sure!
Wow. Until I read the haiku I couldn’t seem to make sense of that picture. I wasn’t seeing the water, I was seeing a dark pillar of rock!
