There’s a guest photo on #writephoto this week–and it’s mine!
Anyone can send KL Caley a photo for the weekly #writephoto prompt. My challenge was to find something a little unusual, something that could give writers and poets something to chew on!
Where was it taken?
I took the overnight train to Venice, starting from Norwich, going to London, then Paris, change at Dijon, and join the trans-Alpine sleeper. I awoke to the sight of Lake Garda whizzing past in the distance. It was November, cold in the mountains, fresh in the air, and the light was fabulous. Emerging from the terminus at Venice, straight onto the Grand Canal, was a sight that outdid my imagination. And then I walked through the streets to my hotel. This was one of many nooks and crannies on the way.
Have I written about Venice?
It’s certainly inspired at least one flash fiction–inspired by a rat I saw in a green space on the main island on my walk back from a trip on the vaporetto out to the Lido (another island). It’s now in my Critters and Crises collection. I wrote more about the trip itself during the 2018 AtoZ Challenge.
I must go back.
Meanwhile, I have some flash fiction to write for Monday!
