About Jemima Pett, Author…
I’ve been an independent author now for over ten years, with more than twenty titles published, and plenty more in the notebook waiting to be written.
Most of my books have been listed as middle grade (children 9-12+) readers simply because their characters are based on my pets. The Princelings series seems to have attracted mostly adults who like clean mystery adventures with a touch of fantasy.
My favourite genre is science fiction, but I also like other aspects of speculative fiction. My aim is to use my environmental training to create some really interesting speculative fiction to help inspire transitions in the real world.
I now live in Hampshire with my guinea pigs, the first of whom, Fred, George, Victor and Hugo, provided the inspiration for the Princelings stories. Where Pete and the Swede came from is another story!

What’s on the blog?
The intention is to entertain, workshop my writing, and spread the word about good books and other independent authors you might enjoy.
Book Reviews: I read because I write, and because I like to read. So most Saturdays you’ll find reviews of what I read. I do not accept books for review. See my Review Policy here.
Flash Fiction: It keeps me in trim to write short stories, and especially with the challenge of doing something outside my comfort zone. Click the category ‘Short Stories’ on the side bar to find them all. (Mostly Tuesdays through Fridays—it varies by year)
News and Discussions: On Mondays or Wednesdays I usually do something that discusses blogging, writing, running a website, or just what’s happening in my life.
Giveaways, Book Blasts, Cover Reveals and Blog Tours: I sometimes take part in hops and organised tours to share things with my audience and hopefully attract new readers. These can happen any day of the week.

Jemima’s writing style
Ten years ago this little tool said I wrote like J K Rowling. Then my short story “Glory of Calella” was analysed as…
Ursula K. Le Guin
I Write Like by Mémoires, journal software. Analyze your writing!
In 2016 put in one of my Viridian series flash fictions and it came out like Victor Nabokov! In 2020 I got one J K Rowling (Calling) and one P G Wodehouse (Grave Mistake).
Well, it gives you an idea. I guess I now write like me.
