Our Fiction in 50 words this month arrives on Thursday, simply because I have other posts in the way, and with all the reading I’m doing, I think a quickie is in order today.
Life of the Party
The drinks flowed; people chattered, laughed, sloshed wine on the carpet. The kitchen crush risked burns on the treats straight from the oven.
Above them, unseen, four eyes peered through the banister railings – six, since one child clutched her teddybear, whimpering, “I wish they’d go. I want my Mummy back.”

This Gary Larson cartoon was on Facebook the other day. I thought the Fi25 was far better than my Fi50…

Love Gary Larsen 🙂 Your story isn’t bad. Certainly leaves me with a world of possible stories to go with it.
😀
I like your story. The last line is a nice little twist.
PS Sorry if this is a duplicate. Your blog was giving me trouble commenting. =(
Thanks, Patricia. It does that to me, too, especially when it tries to load the whole front page into the comment box. Sometimes it suggests to me that I need to run a virus scan and/or update one particular plug-in. But I did that on Tuesday 🙁
One day it will fix itself :sigh:
Thanks for making the effort to repeat your comment, I really appreciate it.
